Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Red Velvet Cheese Cake Brownie Recipe

  • Cream cheese 1 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup + for dusting

  • cochineal colour few drop

  • Butter ½ cup + for greasing

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 cup + 3 tablespoons

  • Cocoa powder ¼ cup

  • Vanilla essence 2 teaspoons

  • Salt a pinch

  • Vinegar 1 teaspoon

  • Eggs 2

  • Egg yolk 1

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease an 8-inch baking tin with some butter and dust with some flour.

Step 2

Cream together butter and 1 cup castor sugar in a bowl with an electric beater.Add cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, cochineal and salt and whisk. Add vinegar and whisk well.

Step 3

Break in eggs and whisk. Add flour and whisk well. Transfer ¾ of batter into the greased baking tin,reserving the remaining,and level it out.

Step 4

Take cream cheese in another bowl. Add 3 tablespoons castor sugar, remaining vanilla essence and egg yolk and whisk with an electric beater.

Step 5

Put the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter and level it out. Spread remaining batter on top.

Step 6

Place the tin on the baking tray. Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.

Step 7

Serve.
