History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Peanut Pakodi Recipe

  • Peanuts shelled 1 cup

  • Gram Flour 3/4 cup

  • Rice flour 2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Cumin seeds coarsely crushed 1/4 teaspoon

  • Citric acid powder a pinch

  • Salt to taste

  • Water (approx) 1/4 cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon + to deep fry


Step 1

Mix together gram flour, rice flour, red chilli powder, crushed cumin seeds, citric acid powder, salt and one-fourth cup of water.

Step 2

Add peanuts, coat them evenly with the mixture. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Drop a lumpfull of the coated nuts in hot oil. Fry on medium heat, till light golden.

Step 3

Drain onto an absorbent paper to soak excess oil. Separate any nuts stuck together. When cool, store in airtight jars. Serve with drinks, cocktails or as anytime snacks.
