Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Mawa Cupcake Recipe

  • Mawa (khoya) 50 grams

  • Refined flour (maida) 150 grams

  • Butter 100 grams

  • Castor sugar 125 grams

  • Eggs 3

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Baking powder 5 grams

  • Milk 1/4 cup


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C. Line a cupcake mouldtray with paper cups.

Step 2

Take butter in a mixing bowl, add castor sugar and cream,with an electric beater,till light and fluffy.

Step 3

Break the eggs, one at a time, into the bowl and continue to beat with the electric beater. Add vanilla essence and beat again. Add mawa and beat well.

Step 4

Sieve together flour and baking powder into the bowl and fold in well. Add milk to adjust the consistency and mix well to make semi-thick batter.

Step 5

Fill the batter into the lined mouldstill they ¾ full, tap and place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.

Step 6

Arrange them on a serving platter and serve.
