Ingredients list for Lal Mirch Ki Machchi

  • 500 grams King fish (surmai)
  • 6-8 Whole dry red chillies
  • 1/3 cup Oil
  • 6 Cloves
  • 1 Black cardamom
  • 1 large Onion ground
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Method

  1. Wash, clean and cut king fish in to two-inch sized pieces. Coarsely grind whole red chillies. Heat oil. Add cloves, black cardamom, red chilli paste and sauté for two to three minutes.
  2. When the spices are cooked add onion paste and fry till golden. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and sauté till oil surface. Add half cup of water and bring it to a boil.
  3. Add fish pieces, cover and simmer gently, stirring occasionally for seven to ten minutes or till the fish is cooked and all the water absorbed. Add lemon juice and serve hot.
