Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Jeera Pepper Chicken Recipe

  • Cumin Seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Black Peppercorns 15-20

  • Chicken breast 2

  • Oil 2 tablespoon

  • Garlic paste 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 1

  • Black salt (kala namak) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon

  • Browned garlic crushed 1/2 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Spring onion greens for garnish

  • Red chilli for garnish


Step 1

Heat 1 tsp oil in a small non-stick pan, add black peppercorns and cumin seeds to it and sauté.

Step 2

Cut chicken breasts into large pieces and marinate them with garlic paste, lemon juice, black salt and salt.

Step 3

Coarsely crush cumin seeds and black peppercorns.

Step 4

Add browned garlic and red chilli powder and put the mixture in a plate.

Step 5

Heat the remaining oil in another non-stick pan. Coat chicken pieces with the spice mixture and shallow fry for 6-8 minutes.

Step 6

Drain on absorbent paper. Garnish with spring onion greens and red chilli and serve hot.
