Fruit custard is one of those desserts that people from all age groups love. A delicious mix of fresh chopped fruits dunked in a rich and creamy custard. This yummy treat is often served with some jelly, but here I have added a bit of mixed fruit jam instead. This is one of the ways my kids would look forward to eating fruits when they were little.

Prep Time : 1.30-2 hour

Cook time : 16-20 minutes

Ingredients for Fruit Custard Recipe

  • Ripe banana peeled 1

  • Pear 1 medium

  • Apple 1 medium

  • Custard powder 2 tablespoons

  • Milk 2 cups

  • Butter 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon

  • Mixed fruit jam 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh pomegranate pearls 3 tablespoons + for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Finely chop banana and pear.

Step 2

Take custard powder in a bowl. Add milk and mix well.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick pan. Pour the custard mixture into it and cook, stirring once a while, till it thickens.

Step 4

Finely chop apple.

Step 5

Heat butter in another non-stick pan. Add apple, pear and banana and sauté. Add 1 tablespoon sugar, mix and saute till soft.

Step 6

Add ¼ cup sugar to custard mixture, mix well and cook till the sugar melts. Switch off heat and mix till smooth.

Step 7

Add sautéed fruits to the custard and mix well.

Step 8

Heat jam in another non-stick pan. Add little water, mix and cook till it melts.

Step 9

Add 3 tablespoons pomegranate pearls to the jam and mix well.

Step 10

Divide the jam-pomegranate mixture into individual Martini glasses.

Step 11

Top with the fruit custard, garnish with pomegranate pearls and serve immediately or chilled.
