History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Fal Aur Gud Ka Pulao Recipe

  • Fruits cut into small pieces 1

  • Coconut peeled, cored and cut into small pieces. 1 medium

  • Chikoo seeded and chopped 1 small

  • Pineapple cut into small pieces 1/4

  • Jaggery (gur) grated 1 cup

  • Rice soaked 1/2 cup

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Ghee 3 tablespoons

  • Green cardamoms 3-4

  • Coconut scraped 1/2 cup

  • Nutmeg powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Sprinkle lemon juice on banana and apple and keep them aside.

Step 2

Heat ghee in a kadai.

Step 3

Add green cardamoms and sauté for a minute.

Step 4

Add the soaked rice along with four cups of water and cook till three fourths done.

Step 5

Drain and spread on a plate to cool.

Step 6

Place the grated jaggery in another kadai and let it melt.

Step 7

Add nutmeg powder and mix.

Step 8

Add rice with the fruits and coconut and a pinch of salt and cook covered till the rice is completely done.

Step 9

Serve hot.
