Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Basic Mukhwas Recipe

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1/4 cup

  • White sesame seeds 1/4 cup

  • Dhania dal 1/4 cup

  • Salt 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Take some water in a bowl. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well.

Step 2

Add some salt-turmeric water to dhania dal, fennel seeds and sesame seeds and mix well. Set aside till water gets soaked.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick pan, add dhania dal and roast till fragrant and crunchy. Transfer into a bowl and cool. Similarly dry roast sesame seeds and fennel seeds separately and mix all the ingredients well.

Step 4

Store in an airtight container.
