Ingredients list for Arbi Ke Patton Ki Subzi

  • 8 Colocasia Leaves finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Split Bengal Gram
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • 4-5 cloves Garlic finely chopped
  • 8-10 Curry leaves
  • 4 Green chillies broken
  • 1/4 cup Split Bengal gram (chana dal) soaked
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons Gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon Jaggery (gur) grated
  • 1/2 cup Scraped coconut
  • 1/4 cup Raw peanuts
  • 3 tablespoons Tamarind paste
  • to taste Salt

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add asafoetida, mustard seeds and methi dana.
  2. When the mustard seeds splutter, add garlic, curry leaves, green chillies, chana dal, turmeric powder, gram flour and mix well.
  3. Add jaggery, coconut, peanuts, arbi leaves and stems, tamarind paste, salt and mix well.
  4. Add 4 cups of water, cover and cook on high heat for 10-12 minutes or till 5-6 whistles are given out.
  5. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
