Ingredients

  • 1½ cups leftover dal
  • ¼ cup blanched and crushed green peas
  • ¼ cup grated carrots
  • 1 cup semolina (suji)
  • 2 green chillies, crushed
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2-3 tablespoons yogurt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • Ghee as required
  • Coconut chutney to serve

Method

  1. Take leftover dal in a bowl. Add green peas, carrots, semolina, green chillies, salt, coriander, yogurt and 1 cup water and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add baking soda and mix well.
  3. Heat a paniyaram pan and drizzle ghee.
  4. Put a spoonful of batter in each dent, cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Flip and cook for 5-6 minutes more.
  6. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
