Gavale

Gavale are made with a simple dough that is lovingly hand-rolled into tiny dumplings and air dried for a day. Then gently simmered in milk or coconut milk and sweetened with sugar or jaggery until everything comes together in the most comforting way.

  1. Take semolina in a bowl, add salt and warm milk, mix well and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each portion into thin cylinders. Break small portions and shape them with your fingers into grains of wheat. Spread them out in a plate and air dry for 1 day.
  3. Store in air tight container and use as required.
