Ingredients

  • 500 grams bhajanee flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons hot oil
  • Oil for greasing + for deep frying

Method

  1. Take bhajanee flour in a large parat, add white sesame seeds and salt. Make a well in the centre and add hot oil and mix well. Add 1¼ cups water in batches and knead into a semi-soft dough.
  2. Divide the dough into equal portions. 
  3. Grease a chakli press with some oil. Put a portion of the dough inside the chakli press till it is ¾ filled. Cover it with the lid. Press out chaklis on a plastic sheet.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Gently slide in the chaklis, a few at a time, and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. 
  5. Allow the chaklis to cool completely. Store in an air tight container and serve as required.
