Ingredients list for Yeral Varuval
- 12-16 Prawns (medium) shelled and deveined
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Tamarind pulp
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon Onion paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Roasted cumin powder
- 2 tablespoons Red chilli powder
- to taste Salt
- 2 tablespoons Rice flour
- 5-6 tablespoons Oil
- 6-8 Curry leaves
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
Method
- Combine onion, garlic and ginger pastes, with tamarind pulp, turmeric, roasted cumin and red chilli powders. Add salt and rice flour and mix well.
- Add 1 tbsp oil and mix well. Add prawns and mix well. Keep in a refrigerator for 10 minutes to marinate. Heat the remaining oil in a non stick frying pan.
- Add the marinated prawns, one by one. Cook for 1 minute on high heat. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Increase the heat to high and cook for half a minute. This way the prawns will cook well and remain juicy.
- Add curry leaves and lemon juice. Mix well and serve hot.
