Ingredients list for Urad Dal Matar Fry

  • 1 cup Split bengal gram cooked with salt and turmeric powder till just do
  • 1 cup Shelled green peas
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 teaspoons Cumin seeds
  • 3 medium Onions chopped
  • 2 Green chillies chopped
  • 1 1/2 inch piece Ginger chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 Lemon
  • a few sprigs Fresh coriander leaves
  • 3 tablespoons Scraped coconut


  1. Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add cumin seeds and let them brown. Add onions, green chillies and ginger and saute till fragrant.
  2. Add black gram and green peas and mix. Add salt, red chilli powder, juice of ½ lemon. Chop coriander leaves and add and mix well. Add coconut and mix. Serve hot.
