Ingredients
- 1 small red cabbage, shredded
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar/jaggery
- ¼ cup vinegar
- 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon butter + for garnishing
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 medium apple
- ½ cup red wine
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of black pepper powder
Method
- Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a non-stick pan. Add onion and sauté till it turns soft.
- Grate apple and put in a bowl.
- Add cabbage to the pan, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add grated apple and mix well. Add brown sugar and mix well. Add wine and mix well.
- Add salt, pepper powder and mix well. Add ¼ cup water, ¼ cup vinegar, mix well and braise for 20-30 minutes.
- Switch off heat and add 1 teaspoon butter and splash of vinegar. Mix well.
- Garnish with a dollop of butter and serve as an accompaniment.
