Spicy Ganthia

A dry snack enjoyed with a cup of hot tea. It is made in many households during the festival. A popular Gujarati snack made by frying besan strips in piping hot oil. It tastes best when paired up with dried chilli or pickle This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cup gram flour
  • Salt to taste 
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder 
  • 1 teaspoon carom seeds
  • 1 tablespoon oil + for deep-frying

Method 

  1. Mix together, gram flour, salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, carom seeds and oil. 
    Add water as required and knead a soft dough. 
  2. Shape the dough in a cylinder and add it to a sev press. 
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai to deep-fry. 
  4. Pipe out the sev in the heated oil with a sev press and fry till golden brown. 
    Drain on absorbent paper. 
  5. Serve once at room temperature.
