Ingredients list for Prawn Tempura

  • 12-16 Prawns shelled, deveined with tails intact
  • 1 cup + for dusting Refined flour
  • 1/4 cup Cornflour
  • 1/2 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • to taste Salt
  • to deep fry Oil


  1. Take refined flour in a bowl, add cornflour, rice flour, baking powder and salt, mix lightly. Add ¼ cup cold water and mix well to form a thin and lump free batter.
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a deep pan. Dip the prawns in the tempura batter till they are evenly coated, slide into hot oil and deep-fry till light golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  3. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with sweet chilli sauce.
