Ingredients list for Potato Chakli

  • 1/2 cup Potatoes
  • 1 kilogram Rice flour
  • 6 Green chillies
  • 1 medium bunch Fresh coriander leaves
  • 3 teaspoons Sesame seeds (til)
  • to taste Salt
  • for frying Oil


  1. Pick and clean coriander leaves and wash well. Remove stems, wash and chop green chillies. Make a smooth paste of coriander leaves and green chillies using a little salt. Boil, cool and peel potatoes.
  2. Mash potatoes well and knead into a dough using the coriander paste and rice flour. Adjust salt and mix in the sesame seeds. Apply a little ghee on your palms and shape dough into a smooth ball. Break off portions and place in sev maker which has the star (chakli) plate.
  3. Gently press out spirals on small pieces of paper. Meanwhile heat oil till it begins to smoke. Drop the chaklis one by one and fry till golden and crisp. Drain onto an absorbent paper. Cool and store in an air-tight container.
