Ingredients
- 1 cup split Bengal gram
- 200 grams cottage cheese
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
FOR THE MASALA
- 1 inch cinnamon piece
- 3 cloves
- 3 black cardamoms
- 2-3 black peppercorns
- 1 bay leaf
Method
- Roast all ingredients for dry masala and grind to a powder. Wash and soak chana dal for three to four hours.
- Cut paneer into half inch sized cubes. Heat ghee in a kadai and deep fry the paneer cubes till golden. Drain onto an absorbent paper.
- Heat two tablespoons ghee in a pan and add masala powder. After two minutes add the chana dal, salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
- Add a little water and cook on medium heat. When the dal is cooked, add sugar and lemon juice and stir.
- Mix paneer pieces and serve warm.
