Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Pachadi -SK Khazana Recipe

  • Yogurt whisked 1 1/2 cups

  • Tomatoes medium, finely chopped 2

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Split skinless black gram (dhuli urad dal) 1 teaspoon

  • Dried red chillies 2

  • Salt to taste

  • Fried curry leaves sprig for garnish


Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add asafoetida, split skinless black gram and broken dried red chillies and red chilli powder and sauté for a few seconds.

Step 2

Add tomatoes and mix well Add salt and toss for 1-2 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and set aside to cool completely.

Step 3

Take yogurt in a bowl, add the tomato mixture and adjust salt, mix till well combined. Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with fried curry leaves sprig and serve chilled.
