You should always stack your fridge with at least a dozen of them. Why? Handiest food to have around! Kids are hungry? Make some egg sandwiches. Guests come in, make an egg curry or egg biryani. You are hungry? Poach an egg and have it topped with stir fried veggies – perfect protein source for the body! Check the freshness – keep a raw egg in a bowl of water. Fresh eggs will stay at the bottom while stale eggs stand on end or float.

Ingredients for Open Egg Sandwich-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Eggs hard boiled and peeled 2-3

  • Hot dog buns 2

  • Iceberg lettuce leaves refreshed in ice cold water 4-5

  • English mustard sauce 1 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Salt to taste

  • Mayonnaise 2 tablespo

  • Onion chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Micro greens for garnish

  • Boiled egg slices for garnish


Step 1

Roughly chop eggs and put in a bowl.

Step 2

Shred lettuce leaves and add to the bowl. Add mustard sauce, pepper powder, salt and mayonnaise and mix well.

Step 3

Discard the ends of the buns and halve them horizontally. Cut each half into 2 pieces.

Step 4

Spread a spoonful of mayonnaise on the bun pieces. Top with a generous portion of egg mixture.

Step 5

Garnish with micro greens and egg slices. Serve immediately.
