By Sanjeev Kapoor 07 Mar 2019 in Recipes Veg New Update Italian Tomato Sauce " frameborder="0" allowfullscreen> Main Ingredients Tomatoes, Garlic, Olive Oil Cuisine Italian Course Gravies, Sauces and Stocks Prep Time 11-15 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Tangy Level of Cooking Easy Others Veg Ingredients 4-5 large tomatoes Salt to taste 2 tablespoons olive oil 6-8 garlic cloves, chopped 2 medium onions, chopped Black pepper powder to taste 1/4 teaspoon red chilli flakes 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon dried oregano 8-9 fresh basil leaves Method Heat sufficient water in a deep non-stick pan. Add salt and bring it to a boil. Remove the eye of tomatoes, make a cross at the bottom, put in the boiling water and blanch for a minute. Remove the tomatoes from the boiling water and put them in ice cold water. Peel and puree them. Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic and sauté for half a minute. Add onion and sauté till it turns soft. Add pureed tomatoes, mix and add salt. Mix well and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Add salt, pepper powder, chilli flakes, sugar and oregano and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Shred basil leaves. Switch off heat and add shredded basil leaves. Mix well. Use as required.
