Ingredients list for Homemade Bread Rolls
- + for dusting Refined flour (maida) 2 cups + 2 teaspoons
- 2 teaspoons Fresh yeast
- 2 teaspoons Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- 2 teaspoons Milk powder
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- for basting Butter 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon +
- for greasing Oil
- for sealing and brushing Milk
- to sprinkle Mixed herbs
Method
- Take yeast in a small bowl. Add castor sugar and 2-3 tablespoons warm water, mix and set aside for 5 minutes to activate.
- Take flour in a mixing bowl. Make a wall in the center, add activated yeast, milk powder and salt and mix. Add some water and knead into a soft dough.
- Add butter and knead again. Cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside to prove for 10-15 minutes.
- Grease a baking tray with some oil.
- Dust the worktop with some flour, place the dough and knock back to release excess air.
- Divide the dough into equal portions, shape into balls and place on the greased baking tray.
- Cover with damp muslin cloth and set aside to prove for 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180° C.
- Brush some milk on top of the doughballs and sprinkle some dried mixed herbs. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, basting with some butter.
- Serve hot with tomato basil soup.
