Greek cooking has an incredibly rich and diverse array of foods and beverages that are a result of literally thousands of years of living, cooking, and eating. Each Greek meal is fresh and inviting, and takes you on a journey through Greece's history.
The cooking methods and basic ingredients have changed little over time. Even the names of certain dishes remain the same. Bread, olives and olive oil, and wine have been the backbone of the Greek diet for many centuries, just as they do today.

Ingredients for Greek Style Lamb Recipe

  • Lamb chops 4

  • Potatoes thinly sliced with skin 4 medium

  • Tomatoes thinly sliced 4 large

  • Brinjal thinly sliced 1

  • Garlic chopped 2 teaspoons

  • Fresh oregano chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Black olives pitted and halved 12-16

  • Mustard paste 2 teaspoons

  • Olive oil 5 tablespoons + for drizzling

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Feta cheese crumbled 100 grams

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200° C.

Step 2

Layer half the potato, tomato and brinjal in a baking dish. Top with half the garlic, oregano, olives and mustard paste. Drizzle five tablespoons of olive oil on top and sprinkle salt and crushed peppercorns on top.

Step 3

Sprinkle the feta cheese on top and repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.

Step 4

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for twenty to twenty-five minutes.

Step 5

Place the lamb chops on top, drizzle little more olive oil on top and sprinkle little more salt and crushed peppercorns on top. Bake for another fifteen to twenty minutes or till the lamb is tender.

Step 6

Remove from heat and allow to rest for a while. Serve hot.
