Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Gajar Dalia Recipe

  • Broken Wheat 1/2 cup

  • Carrot peeled and grated 1 cup

  • Ghee 1 tablespoon

  • Raisins 2 tablespoons + for garnishing

  • Milk 3 cups

  • Roasted semolina (rawa/sooji) 2 tablespoons

  • Castor sugar 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add broken wheat and sauté till lightly browned.

Step 2

Add raisins and mix well. Add carrots and sauté further for a minute.

Step 3

Add milk and cook till the broken wheat is done. Add roasted semolina and mix well.

Step 4

Add castor sugar and mix well. Cook till the mixture thickens. Add cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 5

Transfer onto a serving plate, garnish with raisins and serve hot.
