Ingredients list for Egg Benedict

  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Spring onions with greens
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 2 Brown bread rolls
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons Grated cheese
  • as required Crushed black peppercorns


  1. Heat 5 cups water in a deep non stick pan. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Slice spring onion bulbs and cut half the greens into thick slices.
  3. Place spring onions in a baking tray, add salt, pepper powder and 1 tbsp olive oil and keep it in the preheated oven.
  4. Cut the brown bread rolls horizontally. Break an egg in a small bowl.
  5. Add vinegar to the water in the pan and slowly put an egg in the pan.
  6. Roll the egg white over the yolk to make a ball. Similarly poach the remaining eggs.
  7. Brush the bread rolls with 1 tbsp olive oil and place them over the spring onions.
  8. Place each poached egg over one half of a roll, sprinkle cheese and crushed peppercorns and place it back in the oven.
  9. Bake till the cheese melts and serve hot.
