Chocolate Modak

A mixture of chocolate, coconut and mawa shaped into modaks and served. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients list for Chocolate Modak

  • 1 cup Dark chocolate chopped
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/3 cup Condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • 1 cup Khoya/mawa grated
  • 2 tablespoons Walnuts finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Desiccated coconut

Method

  1. Heat butter in a non-stick pan, let it melt. Add chocolate and mix till it melts completely. Add condensed milk, mix and cook for a minute on low heat.
  2. Add vanilla essence and mix well. Add khoya and walnuts and mix. Add desiccated coconut, mix and cook till the mixture starts to leave the side of the pan.
  3. Take the pan off the heat and transfer into a bowl and allow the mixture to cool completely.
  4. Divide the mixture into equal portions. Stuff each portion into a modak mould and press gently.
  5. Demould and arrange the modaks on a serving plate. Garnish with walnuts and serve. Or transfer into an airtight container and refrigerator to serve when required.
  6. Garnish the chocolate modaks with walnuts and serve.
