Ingredients list for Chicken and Broccoli with Pepper

  • 300 grams Boneless chicken cut into ½” pieces
  • 1 cup Broccoli
  • 1 medium Green capsicum
  • to deep fry Oil 1 tablespoon +
  • ½ cup Cornflour/ corn starch
  • 2 Eggs
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper powder
  • 2 millilitres Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic
  • 3 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 2 cups Chicken stock
  • ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (black)

Method

  1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  2. Reserve 1 tablespoon cornflour and take the remaining in a bowl. Add eggs, salt, pepper powder, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and water as required and mix well into a thick batter. Add chicken pieces and mix well. Set aside for 10 minutes
  3. Deep-fry chicken in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick wok. Add garlic and sauté for a minute. Add broccoli and sauté on high heat for a minute.
  5. Take reserved cornflour in a bowl. Add remaining soy sauce, pepper powder, salt, oyster sauce and ¼ cup stock and mix well.
  6. Add the prepared cornflour mixture to the wok and mix well. Add some more stock, mix well and cook for a minute.
  7. Add fried chicken and mix well. Add remaining stock, mix well and simmer for a minute.
  8. Add cinnamon powder, ¾ tablespoon sesame seeds and capsicum, mix well and simmer for a minute.
  9. Sprinkle remaining sesame seeds on top and serve hot
