Ingredients list for Chatpati Dal Chat

  • 1 cup Green bengal gram
  • medium Salt
  • 1/4 cup Coconut grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)
  • a few Red chilli broken
  • a few Curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Oil


  1. Crush the ginger and cardamomBoil water in a saucepan. Add the crushed ginger and cardamom.
  2. Soak green gram overnight.Soak green gram overnight. In a non stick pan cook soaked green gram with 3 cups of water and salt. Cook till its soft.
  3. Once cooked drain the water. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard. Once it splutters, add urad dal, broken red chillies and curry leaves. Now add cooked green gram and mix. Finally add grated coconut. Serve warm.
