Ingredients list for Aval Varattiyathu

  • 1 1/2 cups Pressed rice (poha)
  • 3/4 cup Jagger 9gur) , grated
  • 1 cup Fresh coconut , scraped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon White sesame seeds

Method

  1. Heat a non-stick pan, add jaggery and 2 tablespoons water and cook till you get a syrup of one thread consistency.
  2. Add coconut and cook until the mixture is almost dry.
  3. Add pressed rice, green cardamom powder, dried ginger powder and sesame seeds, mix well. Serve
