How to make Sooji French Fries -

Fusion food is a general term for the combination of various forms of cookery and comes in several forms.

Ingredients for Sooji French Fries Recipe

  • Semolina (suji / rawa) 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil for drizzl to deep fry

  • Red chilli flakes to sprinkle

  • Dried oregano to sprinkle


Step 1

Boil 1½ cups water in a non-stick pan, add semolina and salt and mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes. Uncover and cook till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a lump. Take it off the heat and let it cool down to room temperature.

Step 2

Place it on a piece of cling film, drizzle a little oil on it and place another piece of cling film on top and flatten slightly and roll into thick sheet.

Step 3

Grease a knife, and trim the edges of the semolina sheet to straighten them. Cut the remaining into fingers.

Step 4

Heat sufficient oil in a wok, slide in the semolina fingers and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Transfer into a bowl, sprinkle red chilli flakes, dried oregano and a pinch of salt and toss well.

Step 6

Transfer them into a serving bowl and serve hot.
