Ingredients list for Self Saucing Chocolate Pudding

  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Powder sifted
  • 1 cup Refined Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
  • 3/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Powdered sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease four large ramekins using two tablespoons of melted butter. Sift together refined flour, baking powder and one fourth cup of dark cocoa powder. Mix in caster sugar.
  2. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients. Add buttermilk and remaining butter. Mix well. Pour the mixture equally into the greased ramekins. Combine brown sugar and remaining dark cocoa powder. Gradually mix in one and a quarter cups of hot water.
  3. Mix until smooth. Divide into four. Carefully pour each portion of sauce over mixture in ramekins. Bake in the preheated oven at 180 °C for thirty minutes or till cakes are done. Insert a skewer into the centre of the cakes to test.
  4. If cakes are done the skewer will come out clean. The sauce will settle at the bottom. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve cakes warm.
