The Maharashtrian hospitality is legendary. The cuisine has subtle variety and strong flavours and varies from region to region. In ancient times in the more affluent homes, feasts often started at mid-day and ended when the sun set! The presentation of food was alluring with a practice to sing sacred verses to dedicate the meal to God.
Maharashtrian cuisine covers a wide range from being extremely mild to very spicy dishes. Wheat, rice, jowar, vegetables, lentils and fruit form important components of Maharashtrian diet.

Ingredients for Raghavdas laddu Recipe

  • Semolina 2 cups

  • Coconut 1 cup

  • Pure ghee 1/4 teaspoon

  • Powdered sugar 1 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1 teaspoon

  • Raisins 4 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Heat a non stick pan and roast the coconut on low heat till reddish brown. Keep aside.

Step 2

Heat ghee in the pan and sauté the rawa on low heat till light brown. Take off the heat and add in the fried coconut and mix well. Add green cardamom powder and mix well. Add the raisins, keeping aside a few to garnish.

Step 3

Cook sugar with one and half cups of water to make a one string consistency syrup. Add the rawa mixture and mix well. Cover and keep aside till the mixture cools a little.

Step 4

Shape into laadoos and decorate each laadoo with a raisin. When completely cooled store. These laadoos do not last very long and therefore should be consumed fast.
