Ingredients list for Pizza Margherita Roll
- 1 cup Refined flour (maida)
- 1 teaspoon Dried yeast
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- to taste Salt
- for greasing Olive oil
- Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling + brushing
- 4 tablespoons Pizza sauce
- 20-24 Fresh basil leaves
- 8 Fresh mozzarella cheese balls (Bocconcini)
Method
- Put refined flour in a bowl, add yeast, sugar and salt, mix well and knead into medium-soft dough. Set aside for 1-1½ hours.
- Preheat oven to 200º C.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, shape them into balls and roll out into thin chapattis.
- Grease baking tray with olive oil and place a chapatti on it. Spread 1 tbsp pizza sauce over it and place 5-6 basil leaves. Slice some fresh mozzarella cheese and place on it, drizzle extra virgin olive oil on top, fold to make a roll and brush top of the roll with extra virgin olive oil. Similarly prepare the rest of the rolls.
- Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Reduce temperature to 180º C and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Cut the pizza rolls into roundels, arrange on a serving plate and serve immediately.
