Super healthy, cabbage goes a long way back. In ancient times, the Greeks treated it as a special food for its many medicinal properties. There are tales about raw cabbage juice being a standard treatment for a nasty hangover! Salads, dals, sabzis, pickles and even raitas, cabbage does full justice to each preparation. Ingredients for Palasani Zunaka Recipe

  • Cabbage 1/4

  • Onions 1 medium

  • Green chilli 1

  • Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 1 tablespoon


Step 1

Wash the cabbage and slice it thinly. Peel the onion, halve it and slice thinly into half rings.

Step 2

Slit the green chilli, de-seed and finely slice. Fry the onion in oil until soft but not browned. Add the mustard seeds and cook until they crackle.

Step 3

Add the chilli and cabbage, with 1 tablespoon water and salt. Cover the pan and cook for about 6 minutes, or until the cabbage is just soft. Serve hot.
