Ingredients list for Khatte Meethe Chawal

  • 1 1/2 cups Rice
  • 1/2 cup Prunes chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 4 Green cardamoms
  • 1 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 2 1/2 cups Orange juice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar

Method

  1. Soak rice in three cups of water for half an hour. Take oil/ghee in a microwave bowl.
  2. Add green cardamoms and cinnamon and cook uncovered in the microwave on HIGH (100%) for two minutes. Drain the water from the rice and add to the bowl.
  3. Add prunes and raisins. Mix and then add orange juice and sugar and mix well. Cook uncovered on microwave HIGH (100%) for five minutes.
  4. Mix lightly, cover and cook on microwave HIGH (100%) for two minutes. Reduce power to microwave medium (70%) and cook till done. Let it stand for five minutes. Serve hot.
