How to make Green Soup -

Treasure house of vitamins and minerals, spinach must be included in the week's menu. The usage can be varied: chopped spinach leaves cooked with potatoes is a semi-wet vegetable with rotis, a few spinach leaves thrown in with mixed vegetables and turned into a soup is lovely on a cold winter night, chopped and blanched spinach makes a different sort of raita, spinach puree can be used in cutlets or kababs, the list goes on.

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Ingredients for Green Soup Recipe

  • Spinach chopped 350 grams

  • Split pigeon pea (toor dal/arhar dal) 2 tablespoons

  • Ginger chopped 1 inch piece

  • Black peppercorns 10-15

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Butter 4 tablespoons


Step 1

Pressure cook, spinach, onion, ginger, peppercorns, split pigeon peas and salt togeher with 300 ml water. Cook till 2 whistles.

Step 2

Remove from heat and allow it to cool. Grind the mixture well. Boil the puree again till hot.

Step 3

Pour in four soup bowls and serve hot garnished with 1 tablespoon each of butter.
