Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. Ingredients for Gebna Makleyah (Egyptian Oven-Fried Cheese) Recipe

  • Feta cheese crumbled ½ cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon

  • Egg 1

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste

  • Fresh parsley chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Bread crumbs dried ¼ cup

  • Olive oil 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Combine feta cheese, flour, egg, salt, crushed peppercorns, parsley and breadcrumbs in a bowl and mix well.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into twelve equal portions and shape them into balls.

Step 4

Place the prepared balls on a baking tray. Drizzle olive oil on top and lightly mix.

Step 5

Put the baking tray in preheated oven and bake for fifteen to twenty minutes. Transfer on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Serve hot.
