Ingredients list for Gebna Makleyah (Egyptian Oven-Fried Cheese)

  • ½ cup Feta cheese crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon Refined flour (maida)
  • 1 Egg
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Crushed black peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley chopped
  • ¼ cup Bread crumbs dried
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Combine feta cheese, flour, egg, salt, crushed peppercorns, parsley and breadcrumbs in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into twelve equal portions and shape them into balls.
  4. Place the prepared balls on a baking tray. Drizzle olive oil on top and lightly mix.
  5. Put the baking tray in preheated oven and bake for fifteen to twenty minutes. Transfer on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve hot.
