Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe

  • Cream cheese at room temperature 225 grams

  • Refined flour (maida) 3 cups+ fo

  • Butter at room temperature 1½ cups +

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 3 cups

  • Eggs 6

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Salt 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease a baking tin with some butter and dust with some flour.

Step 2

Cream together butter and cream cheese till smooth and light. Add castor sugar and beat till fluffy.

Step 3

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla essence and mix well.

Step 4

Add flour and salt and fold in till well combined to make a smooth batter.

Step 5

Pour batter into the prepared tin and tap lightly. Place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for sixty to seventy-five minutes.

Step 6

Remove from oven, cool and remove the cake from the tin.

Step 7

Cut into wedges and serve.
