Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Prep Time : 16-20 minutes

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Ingredients for Corn And Cheese Balls Recipe

  • Sweet corn kernels boiled 1 1/2 cups

  • Processed cheese grated 2 cups

  • Potatoes boiled and grated 2 medium

  • Ginger chopped 1 inch piece

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Roasted cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 2 tablespoons

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon

  • Oil to deep fry

Method

Step 1

Mash the corn slightly. Place in a deep bowl and mix in cheese, potatoes, ginger, chillies, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, cornflour and maida.

Step 2

Shape into small bite sized balls and deep-fry till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
