Ingredients for Chocolate and Coconut Soft Cake Recipe

  • Dark chocolate chopped, melted ½ cup

  • Desiccated coconut ¼ cup

  • Refined flour (maida) ? cup + for dusting

  • Icing sugar ¾ cup

  • Butter 8 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon + for greasing

  • Eggs 3½

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) ? cup

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180º C. Grease a round cake tin with some butter and dust with some flour.

Step 2

Cream together icing sugar and butter in a bowl till light.

Step 3

Sift flour into the mixture and fold in well.

Step 4

Beat together eggs and castor sugar in another bowl till fluffy. Add this to the butter-sugar-flour mixture and mix well.

Step 5

Add desiccated coconut and chocolate and mix. Add vanilla essence and mix till well combined into a batter.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared tin, place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and remove from the mould.

Step 7

Cut into wedges and serve.
