Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Chocolate Walnut Kheer Recipe

  • Dark chocolate grated 1/2 cup + for garnish

  • Milk roasted and crushed 1/2 cup + for garnish

  • Rice 2 tablespoons

  • Milk 4 cups

  • Mawa (khoya) grated 1/4 cup

  • Sugar 1/3 cup


Step 1

Take rice and milk in a deep pan and cook stirring continuously so that the rice does not stick to the bottom. Cook till the rice is soft and the milk reduced.

Step 2

Add mawa and mix. Add sugar and stir till it dissolves. Add crushed walnuts and stir.

Step 3

Transfer into a bowl and add chocolate and mix. Cool and chill. Pour into individual bowls.

Step 4

Sprinkle grated chocolate over the top, place a walnut in the centre and serve.
