Steamed Buns These soft and spongy buns are steamed and not baked. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe. By Sanjeev Kapoor 07 Apr 2015 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Refined Flour, Fresh Yeast Cuisine Chinese Course Breads Prep Time 16-20 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Mild Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Steamed Buns 500 grams Refined Flour 30 grams Fresh Yeast 2 1/2 teaspoons Sugar to taste Salt 1 tablespoon Butter Method Sieve flour into a bowl. Make a well in the centre and put fresh yeast and sugar in it. Pour a little warm water over it and wait for five minutes or till the yeast begins to froth. Add salt and butter and knead into a soft dough with sufficient warm water. Cover and rest for at least half an hour or till it doubles in volume. Knock back the dough and knead again for one minute. Divide the dough into sixteen equal parts, make small balls and put them on a greased perforated steamer plate. Set aside for twenty to twenty-five minutes or till they double in size. Boil sufficient water in a steamer, place the steamer plate in it and cover. Steam for at least fifteen minutes. Serve hot.
