Ingredients list for Sheermal-SK Khazana

  • 2 cups Refined flour (maida)
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • a few strands Saffron
  • 1 tablespoon Castor sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Screwpine water (kevda jal)
  • 1/4 cup Ghee melted
  • for greasing Butter


  1. Heat milk in a non-stick pan.
  2. Take saffron strands in a small bowl, add 2-3 tablespoons warm milk from the pan and mix well.
  3. Add castor sugar to the pan and mix till it dissolves.
  4. Put flour in a bowl. Add sweetened milk and screwpine essence, mix and knead into a soft dough. Cover with muslin cloth and set aside for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 240º C.
  6. Add ghee, knead again, cover with a muslin cloth and set aside for 10 minutes.
  7. Divide the dough into equal portions, dust with some flour and roll out into discs. Prick the entire surface with a fork.
  8. Grease a baking tray with some butter.
  9. Arrange the discs on the greased tray, put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes.
  10. Remove the tray from the oven and brush with some saffron milk. Put the tray back in the preheated oven and bake for 3-4 minutes.
  11. Serve immediately.
