How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Prep Time : 6-10 minutes

Cook time : 26-30 minutes

Serve : 4

Ingredients for Sannas Recipe

  • Rice 1 cup

  • Toddy 1/4 bottle

  • Coconut scraped 1/2

  • Sugar 1 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Soak the rice overnight or for four hours at least. Drain and grind to a fine paste using toddy. Grind the scraped coconut too using toddy.

Step 2

Mix the two mixtures. Add more toddy to get the consistency of idli batter. Keep it covered to ferment for at least four hours. Heat water in a steamer.

Step 3

Grease a idli mould. Pour the batter in each mould leaving enough space for the sannas to rise.

Step 4

Cook on medium heat till done. Serve with mutton curry.
