Ever imagined what life would be without some meetha? The gulab jamuns, barfis, pedas, laddoos, modaks, halwas…you can say let the sugar substitutes rule but not everything is possible with substitutes! One of oldest flavourings and condiments used by mankind, this ingredient is an instant provider of energy. Also available in various types, sugar is either derived from sugarcane or beetroot.

Ingredients for Salted Caramel Pannacotta Recipe

  • Sugar 100 grams

  • Sea salt A large pi

  • Fresh cream 2 cups

  • Milk 1 1/2 cups

  • Gelatine bloomed 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh mint sprigs to garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat sugar in a non-stick pan, add some water, mix and let the sugar caramelise.

Step 2

Add cream and milk, mix and cook for a minute. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3

Add the bloomed gelatine to the caramelised sugar mixture and whisk well.

Step 4

Pour the mixture equally into 4 serving bowls. Mix a little to remove the bubbles and refrigerate till set.

Step 5

Keep the bowls on a serving platter, sprinkle sea salt on top, garnish with mint sprigs and serve immediately.
