The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Quick Chocolate Biscuit Cake Recipe

  • Drinking chocolate 2 tablespoons

  • Digestive biscuits 225 grams

  • Butter 100 grams

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 50 grams

  • Honey 2 tablespoons

  • Milk 2 tablespoons

  • Cocoa powder 1 tablespoons

  • Cake crumbs 50 grams

  • Glazed cherries 50 grams

  • Raisins 50 grams

  • For the icing

  • Plain chocolate 100 grams

  • Butter 15 grams

Method

Step 1

Heat butter, sugar, honey and milk in a pan on low heat. Add the drinking chocolate, cocoa and half the biscuits and mix well. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Place into a sandwich tin/round dish and chill in the refrigerator till it sets.

Step 2

Remove from the tin and keep aside. For icing melt the chocolate and butter in a small bowl over a pan of hot water. Spread over the cooled biscuit mixture and allow to set and cut into wedges.
