Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Bravas Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and chopped 4 medium

  • Onion to deep fry

  • Extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion chopped 1 large

  • Garlic chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Tomatoes grated 3 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Paprika to taste

  • Wine salt a pinch

Method

Step 1

Cut potatoes into big pieces. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 2

Heat 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil in a non stick pan, add onions and garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes. Add tomatoes and continue to saute for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Add potatoes to the oil in the kadai and deep fry. Add salt and paprika to onion-tomato mixture and saute. Add a little water and cook till tomatoes soften. Cool the onion-tomato mixture and grind till smooth.

Step 4

Deep fry potatoes till golden and drain on absorbent paper. Sprinkle a little wine salt on them. Pour the sauce over and serve hot.
