Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups grated processed cheese
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried mixed herbs

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F. Heat milk in a non stick pan. Slice potatoes into thick roundels using a slicer. Cut garlic clove and rub it, pressing it a little, all over the inside of a baking dish.
  2. Add cream to the milk along with mixed herbs and mix. Do not boil the milk. Arrange a layer of potato slices overlapping each other neatly in the baking dish. Sprinkle half the cheese all over. Pour half the milk-cream mixture. Arrange another layer of potatoes over this. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over and pour the remaining milk-cream mixture over.
  3. Cover the dish with aluminium foil, keep it in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for further 10-12 minutes or till the top gets gratinated and turns golden. Serve hot.
