The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Plum Icecream Recipe

  • Plums 500 grams

  • Milk 8 1/4 cups

  • Cream 2 1/4 cups 2 tablespoons

  • Skimmed milk powder 3/4 cups + 2 tablespoons

  • Sugar 2 3/4 cups 2 tablespoons

  • GMS (stabilizer) 1 tablespoon

  • Vanilla essence 3/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Puree half the plums and chop the rest. Keep aside. Heat milk in a deep pan. Add cream and continue to heat till the mixture reaches 30-32°C.

Step 2

Add milk powder and continue to cook, stirring continuously so that there are no lumps. Add sugar and cook till the mixture thickens slightly. Do not let it come to a boil. Heat it till it reaches 75°C.

Step 3

At this temperature cook for around fifteen minutes. Add GMS, stir and take it off the heat. Add vanilla essence. Stir and strain the mixture. Let the mixture cool.

Step 4

Pour into an icecream container. Add plum puree and mix well. Cover tightly with a lid and keep it in the freezer to set. When almost set, take it out and churn the mixture in a mixer.

Step 5

Pour it back into the ice cream container, add chopped plums and mix. Cover with the lid and put it back in the freezer to set completely. Take out scoops with an icecream scooper and serve immediately.
